Funding Requests Through VSCA for Programs and Services

Members may submit proposals to the executive for funding of programs and services.  Proposals are accepted for respite only at this time. In exceptional cases, other proposals may be considered where circumstances warrant.  All proposals must be snail-mailed in to the secretary and are due no later than the 7th of each month. Late proposals will be considered by the board the following month.  The executive directors of the Board of VSCA meet the second Tuesday of each month to review proposals and to make decisions and priorities for funding. Form

Changes to Proposal Guidelines

The new guidelines are as follows:

Due to increased membership and limited resources, VSCA now funds respite services only.

Conferences, workshops, and specialty equipment are NO LONGER FUNDED by VSCA -- these expenses can usually be covered by your provincial autism funding. We recommend that you call the Autism Funds Processing Unit to receive approval of these expenses BEFORE purchasing.

Limit: a maximum of one $200 respite funding proposal per month, up to $1000 per family per fiscal year – April 2007-April 2008. Families with more than one child with an ASD diagnosis may request up to $1500 total per fiscal year. All cheques are made out directly to the service provider or company. VSCA cannot reimburse members directly for funds spent.

APPROVAL OF PROPOSALS IS SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS.

As always, these guideline amounts represent eligibility, NOT entitlement, and are dependent on the availability of funds.

Download and print the blank proposal forms.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact VSCA's Secretary.

 Tax Matters:

Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) has new guidelines regarding the Tax Deductible Status of Autism Treatments including Intensive Behavioural Treatment.  If you are using any "unconventional" (non-medical) program including Lovaas or Music Therapy, we suggest that you review the following guidelines and discuss them with a tax professional or Revenue Canada.  Please note that although many medical plans do not cover these treatments, they are recognized by CCRA and are deductible.  Please refer to our tax page for further information.
