The Victoria Autism Awareness Walk/Run Committee would like to thank everyone that participated in, pledged, supported and cheered at our event on Sunday April 17th. The walk was attended by 400 people including walkers, runners and volunteers. A phenomenal $20 000 was raised supporting both VSCA and the Mosaic Learning Society.
Special mention to our top fundraisers: Dillon McNeil and Tina Alderman, both bringing in more than $1000 in pledges!
This year was the introduction of teams which brought out the support in full force. Some teams were formed showing the strong commitment to service in autism like Team Little Steps with 32 members and some teams were formed with a solid commitment to a particular child or youth like Team Owen with 50 members!
We welcomed in schools like Rogers Elementary and Sir James Douglas with their own teams and a strong showing from Cloverdale Traditional School as they supported Team Matthew!
Sylvan Learning Centre www.sylvanlearning.com was a Champion Level sponsor of this event and Little Steps Therapy Services www.mylittlesteps.net was a huge supporter. Thank you to these two businesses for their generosity, support and attendance!
Additional sponsors that made sure this event was successful are: A-News, Gala-Van Party Rentals, Old Dutch, Ali Baba’s Pizza, Avon, Country Grocer, Canadian Springs Water, Island Farms, Tim Hortons, Super Save Group, UsedVictoria.com, Home Hardware and Cannor Nursery.
